The play is based on the classic black novel of the same name (noir novel), starring Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet. The story takes place during the Great Depression in the United States, when the heroine Mildred Pierce Beragon broke up with her unemployed husband Bert (Brian F. O'Byrne) to make ends meet as a waitress. On the one hand, she wants to maintain her social status, on the other hand, she yearns for independence and freedom.
