In the early years of Showa, Japan's economy was in the doldrums, a large number of workers lost their jobs, and poor families sold their children and daughters, causing many human tragedies. As far away as the Izu Mountains in the south, it seems that people have not been spared, and people are going in and out, struggling to make a living. On this 80-kilometer mountain road, a long-distance bus driver is particularly popular. He has a handsome face, is modest, and always respectfully says "thank you" to the passengers he meets on the road, so he is called "Mr. Thank you" (played by Uehara). On this day, thank you for leaving on time, with a girl he likes, but now he has to be sold to the city to become a prostitute. On the journey, there are a lot of big and small things, from which there is a lot of sadness and warmth. This film is based on Kawabata Yasunari's novel and is the debut performance of the famous actor Kamihara.
