My Favorite War (2020)

In Latvia under the Iron Curtain after World War II, the director's autobiography collages an indelible dark childhood with lovely animations, real people and historical clips. Like all children who grew up in the Soviet Union during the Cold War, girls are dominated by fear every day, and totalitarian governments carry out brainwashing education for years, and life is ubiquitous political propaganda. It was not until one day when the girl found the German soldiers buried in the back garden that she wondered what truth was waiting to be discovered under the appearance of "loving the motherland."
