Although many people think that having superpowers is a good thing, the truth is the opposite of what they think. Chris (Nicholas Cage Nicolas Cage) is born with the ability to predict the future, but he has spent his childhood in pain: institutions, governments and hospitals are so interested in him that he spent his happy childhood in testing and research. As an adult, Chris was incognito in Las Vegas, gambling from time to time to win a little money. Agent Kelly (Julianne Moore Julianne Moore) comes to Chris for help because a terrorist organization is premeditated to blow up Los Angeles. However, this ability to predict the future is now painful for Chris because he predicts that no matter how hard he tries, Los Angeles will eventually be blown up and his lover will die in this disaster.
