On the docks of New York Harbor, the underworld forces led by Johnny mercilessly oppressed the Dockers. Terry (Marlon Brando Marlon Brando), a former boxer, comes to the dock to work for Johnny. His friend Joey was pushed off the roof and killed by his man, Charlie, Terry's brother, for exposing the crimes of Johnny and others to the crime committee. Joey's sister Edie (Eva Mary Saint Eva Marie Saint) vows to avenge her brother and launches an investigation with the vicar Father Barry. Insiders are afraid to tell. Terry also witnessed Joey's murder. Although he sympathized with Edie and wanted to help her escape the persecution of the underworld, he did not report his brother's crime. In the contact with Edie, the two gradually developed feelings. When Edie learned that he was an accomplice in killing her brother, she turned him down. After that, my brother was killed by Johnny to save Terry. Numerous evil events determined Terry to expose Johnny's crimes. He was badly injured by Johnny's men on the dock, the priest and Edie came to support him, and the silent Dockers awakened, they United and fought for justice.
