HBO's violent, prison life series is an addictive, hormonal soap opera. The eight episodes of the first season set the tone for the entire show: lifelike characters inside and outside the railing created by a large number of actors, and five stories developed at a rapid and suffocating pace, accompanied by angry and eccentric narration and a dramatic increase in mortality. Created by Tom Fontana, the producer of Homicide, the show quickly won the title of "the most violent TV show". The film looks like a simple chemical reaction: mixing explosive elements into a confined, sealed container and shaking the yellow brick road of the Oswald correctional facility (affectionately known as OZ by prisoners) extends to the "city of Emerald"-a clean prison made of concrete and glass, supervised by prison reform advocate Tim McManus. The first season introduces two of the most high-profile prisoners: lawyer Beecher, who goes from a cowardly lamb to a fearless lynx: and Muslim activist Kareem Said, a ferocious non-violent leader whose prison rehabilitation campaign ends with the best part of the season.
