In the future, the earth will no longer be able to support so many people, so it is necessary to go to the universe to find other habitable planets. On the way to find a suitable planet, humans began to train orangutans to do some simple tasks instead of humans. During a mission, the spacecraft piloted by astronaut Leo (Mark Mark Wahlberg) was hit by a cosmic storm and lost contact with the space station. In order to rescue his partner, Leo ignored the obstruction and drove the ship to the center of the storm alone. However, in the end, the ship crashed to a strange planet. When Leo woke up, he was picked up by a group of apes. After careful observation, it is found that on this planet, apes have high wisdom and dominate the planet, while real humans have become slaves to apes. In order to get rid of his predicament, Leo begins his escape with the help of Ari (Helena Bonham Carter Helena Bonham Carter). In the process of escape, the signal receiver carried by Leo gradually received the signal from the mother ship.
