France in 1958. 21-year-old Ruth Pang Feile (Deborah Francois D é borah Fran ç ois) runs a grocery store with her father in Lower Normandy. At a young age, she developed a strong interest in typewriters in the shop and often secretly practiced typing in the dead of night. Her father arranged for Ruth to marry the local car repairman, but the ambitious Ruth was not willing to be a country housewife. With a yearning for city life, Ruth goes to Louis (Roman Duris Romain Duris) to apply for a secretary at the insurance company. During the interview, although Louis was deeply skeptical about Ruth's ability to work, Louis was so shocked by Ruth's fast typing that he immediately decided to hire Ruth as his new secretary. But Louis had his own abacus in mind. Louis, who has always been ridiculed by his father, decided to act as Ruth's typing coach, just to prove his ability by giving Ruth the world championship. Ruth accepted Louis's challenge in order not to return to the country. Louis became a tough coach and showed no mercy to Lu; Ruth's typing skills also improved by leaps and bounds.
