During the battle between the United States and Mexico in the 19th century, Army Captain John Bauer was sent by the military to a barren Sierra Nevada outpost for cowardice, leading a boring life with a rabble of inferior soldiers. Later, a Scottish man, Elvis, broke into the barracks and confessed that he had gone here with a group of people, but they hid in the cave when they were caught in a blizzard on the way. Under the pressure of hunger and cold, they killed each other and ate human flesh, and only Elvis escaped from this crazy cave. After hearing the news, Captain Bauer led the team to the cave to check, but Elvis turned out to be an ogre. The story of this film looks like a shoddy bloody horror film, but it is actually quite serious and has a thought-provoking discussion on the theme of war and survival. Director Antoniabette's fast-paced treatment is not muddy, and the latter part shows a sense of black comedy. The two protagonists, Guy Pierce and Robert Carlisle, both feature their performances.
