The film tells the story of the first black pilots in the United States during World War II, who overcame the institutional and racial restrictions at that time and formed a special bomber escort with an experimental nature-Tuskegee Flight (TuskegeeAirmen). Their planes are all painted with "red tail", so this has become their nickname. Red tail, the first formation of African-American pilots in American military history, was sent to Alabama to be ready for battle because of its war training. There, they experienced rampant racism and harassment, and their ability to fly and fight was questioned, but the outstanding performance of "Red tail" in the air prompted the Air Force to abolish apartheid. They also played an indispensable role in conflicts with Italy and Germany.
