A scarred street occupied by the Nazis in Rome in 1944. The Germans are unscrupulously searching for guerrillas to defend their homeland, and George Manfetti (Marcelo Bagliero Marcello Pagliero), an engineer and leader of the Italian underground resistance, is wanted by the Germans. In crisis, Manfetti flees to the home of her friend Francesco. With the help of Francesco's fiancee Bina (Anna Maniani Anna Magnani), Manfetti meets Father Don Pietro (Aldo Burlitz Aldo Fabrizi) and asks the priest to give a large sum of money to the guerrillas. Francesco was arrested to cover for Manferti, and Bina was shot and killed. However, the desperate Manfetti was tipped off by his girlfriend, and Manfetti and the priest were arrested and jailed. The Nazis deliberately tortured Manfetti in front of the priest, and the two men eventually died bravely under the enemy's torture and bullets. This film is based on Sergio Amidi's original work.
