Ambassador Han (Tzi Ma) presided over the smuggling activities of the Zhongtao criminal group before he was stationed in the United States, so he was resentful by his enemies. In the United States, Zhong Tao instructs his staff to kidnap Su Yang (Julia Hsu), the daughter of the South Korean ambassador, and extort a ransom of 50 million US dollars. Hearing the news, FBI launched a comprehensive investigation. Ambassador Han was worried about the efficiency of the United States and insisted on sending his old partner in Hong Kong, Inspector Li (Jackie Chan), to assist. In order to prevent Lee from solving the case, FBI sends out Carter (Chris Tucker Chris Tucker), a problem detective with the Los Angeles Police Department, as Lee's partner. Carter's style is high-profile, while Li is extraordinary, low-key and cautious, which makes a lot of misunderstandings and jokes about the temporary combination of things. But with one crisis after another, the two gradually developed a tacit understanding. Will their rescue operation be successful in the end?
