After a series of successive blows and bad luck, the weak-willed gambler John (Steve Buscemi) finally decides to flee Las Vegas and plan for the rest of his life, in his imagination, he should find a normal job and live a normal life. As John got an undeveloped job at an auto insurance company in Albuquerque, he began to enter the real world, working as hard as the people around him, while constantly resisting the temptation of cards, struggling and resisting. When the boss, Mr. Townsend (Peter Dinglaki), asked John to accompany Virgil (Romanie Marco), the company's best lie discriminator, to investigate a suspicious car accident near Las Vegas, he also saw it as an opportunity for promotion, although what he really cared about was whether he could return to the table. However, just before John left, he got entangled with his slightly eccentric colleague Jill (Sarah Silverman). They were just flirting to pass the boring time and boring work, to John's surprise.
