At the end of the Heian era, Ping Zhengshi, an honest and loving Yancheng parent official (played by General Shimizu), was demoted by his colleagues for violating the court's order to relieve the victims, and was demoted to Zhuzi. Seven years later, Hiroshi's wife, Tamaki (Tanaka), with her 13-year-old son, King Kato (Masahiko Kato), his 8-year-old daughter Anshou (Yoshiko Yoshiko), and her female grandpa, Bamboo (Lang Hua Qianzi), set off to find her husband. Orphans and widows have nothing to rely on, and they are deceived by human traffickers in Vietnam. The bamboo is dead, the jade wood is sold to the whore house in Sadu, and the two children are sold to Dr. Shanjiao (Yingtaro Yoto) after Dan as a slave. Over the past ten years, brother and sister have been subjected to inhuman torture. Accidentally learned the news of his mother in Sadu, the cook king (Hua Yanagi Xizhang) plans to escape from this evil cave. Anshou (Kyoko Kagawa) dies for his brother, and the cook king, who has been freed through tribulations, decides to go to Beijing to appeal the grievances of the family. This film is based on Mori's original work and won the Silver Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival in 1954.
