The story is about a British family troupe living in India. They toured between towns and villages to perform Shakespeare's plays. Through their journey, audiences can see that the face of India is constantly changing, old things are replaced by new things, Indian princes become hoteliers, sports become more important than cultural activities, and traditional theatres are replaced by Bollywood movies. The film is adapted from the travels of Geoffrey Kendal and his daughter Felicity Kendal. Director: James Ivory's "A Room with a View" won the award for Best Actress at the 1965 Berlin Film Festival.
