Silence of the Tides (2020)

This is a film that pays homage to Walden Sea. The Walden Sea is the largest, most diverse and uninterrupted intertidal zone in the world, extending along the coasts of the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark. The film bears witness to the rough and fragile relationship between man and nature, beating as the tides inhale and exhale. This is a fascinating big screen that allows us to see the cycle and contrast of the four seasons: life and death, storm and silence, the public and the individual. All this is carried out in the larger context of the sky, water, wind, fog and ever-changing light. With his style of observation and attention to detail, director pieterrim de Kroon presents the Walden region as a huge, living organism, where all elements are interrelated, influenced by the position of the moon and sun, as well as magical energy from the universe.
