McQueen originally planned to direct a six-episode five-hour series "Little Axe" for BBC, which tells five different stories, but McQueen expanded each story into five feature films. The five feature films are scheduled on BBC and Amazon Prime Video: [Mangrove] (November 20), [Lover's Rock] (November 27), [Education] (December 4), [Alex Whittle] (December 11), [Red, White and Blue] (December 18). [hatchet] five songs tell the story of the West Indian community in London from the late 1960s to the mid-1980s. The title quotes an African proverb: "if you are a big tree, we are hatchet", which is widely spread because of Bob Marley's song of the same name. Lover's Rock tells a fictional story about young lovers and music at a blues party in the early 1980s. Amarah-Jae St Aubyn and Michael Ward starred, and McQueen co-wrote with Cortia Newland.
