The show is inspired by the comedian / singer Bridget Everett's own life and is set in her hometown of Kansas; heroine Sam (Bridget Everett) is from Kansas, but she has always been out of place, and singing is redemption for her. Sam will embark on a journey of self-exploration, and even if she is like an outsider in her hometown, she will not give up easily.
