In order to live a better life, the beautiful single mother Fulan (Pazivige) takes her 12-year-old daughter to move from Mexico to the free country of the United States. Introduced by a friend, Fulan was employed as a housekeeper in a good family. The difference of language, the barrier of communication and the difference of culture have become the biggest stumbling block in Fulan's new life. Host John (Adam Sandler) and Deborah (Tia Leoni) are both kind-hearted, but their differences in lifestyle and attitude towards their children are really nerve-racking. Flynn needs to go through some ups and downs to fully integrate into the upper class of the United States. The cultural conflict shrouded in tenderness is staged quietly.
