The show focuses on Britain's shameful Labour Cabinet Minister John Stonehouse, telling the story of his life and his time. Matthew Macfadyen plays John,Keeley Hawes as his wife Barbara. The story is about a very successful member of the John Stonehouse,Harold Wilson (Kevin R. McNally) government who disappears on the beach of a large luxury hotel in Florida in November 1974. He left behind a pile of neatly folded clothes and swam into the sea to try to fake his own death. Shocked members of the public and the media thought the North Walsall congressman drowned or was eaten by a shark, leaving behind his dear wife Barbara and three young children. Stonehouse is a charismatic, charismatic and confident man who has impressed Prime Minister Harold Wilson and staunch Labour supporters from the early days of his career in parliament. He came from the working class and graduated from the London School of Economics.
