By chance, Sidney (Philip Baker Hall Philip Baker Hall) meets a man named John (John C. Riley John C. Reilly), who brings the destitute John to the casino and teaches him how to gamble, hoping that John can take advantage of the moment. In the casino, Sidney meets Clementine (Gwyneth Paltrow Gwyneth Paltrow), a waitress who violates casino rules and makes physical deals with guests. She doesn't know that Clementine and John fall in love as soon as they meet, and immediately decides to get married hand in hand. Sidney's friend Jimmy (Samuel L. Jackson) finds Sidney, who holds a secret that belongs to Sidney. Now, Jimmy uses this secret as a bargaining chip to blackmail and blackmail Sidney, only to get killed.
