Mortez (Rochefort) is a famous aging radio game host, he and his young partner Rivetot (Jugnot) spent his life in various cities, along the way. The program was their whole life until the radio station decided to cancel it. "duo" is the same show of tragedies, comedies, road movies and stories. The background manages to be both realistic (depicting frustrating provincial sex life and inspired by real game shows that still exist today) and fantastic (surreal events abound, as Vito keeps seeing in the mysterious Red Dog). Rochefort is as great as the great charming but obsessive Mortez who will never surrender. Jugnot is a weak assistant, it is difficult to live without his mentor, and his excellent performance is far from his usual farce character. Both are heartbreaking and unforgettable, and this film is one of the masterpieces of the 1980s.
