Test (2013)

San Francisco, 1985. AIDS has just begun to break out, the whole city is brewing panic and unease, and the fear and discrimination against homosexuality can be seen everywhere. The newspaper even asked loudly: "shouldn't homosexuals be quarantined?" Frankie (Scott Marlowe), the alternate newcomer of the Modern Dance Company, is often ridiculed by other members for being weak and feminine. The only one who didn't laugh at him was Todd (Matthew Risch), the bad boy in the regiment. The two people with opposite personalities soon become good friends and develop more relationships. As someone in the dance company dropped out because of AIDS, Frankie began to face the challenge of making his debut. However, the disease of the century is the real ruthless test of life. Frankie was tested for AIDS for the first time in his life, and its results could change everything. In those days, as long as "Test" was added with a definite article, everyone would know that it meant an AIDS test. "trial Love Dance" is not only about love, but also about AIDS. The director recreates the background of the 1980s and uses it to depict the sad and happy state of being brave to love in an environment of confusion and fear.
