The story takes place in Africa during World War I. The hero Charles Olnett is a mining mechanic who lives in Africa because of unemployment, and Ross Seyer, the heroine, is a preacher to the African natives. In order to resist the Germans, the two men went down the river on an old yacht, the Queen of Africa. On the way, this pair of middle-aged men and women with very different personalities not only had sincere love, but also bravely sunk a German warship.
