Richard (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a young American who loves surfing and adventure on the Internet. One day, he came to Bangkok, Thailand, looking for Paradise Beach on the Internet. In the cheap hotel where he stayed, he met the French girl Franoise (Virginie Ledoyen) and her boyfriend, who became friends, and soon Richard fell in love with Franoise. Richard gets some strange-sounding secrets from the weird bald guy, and then the bald guy leaves behind a mysterious map and dies unexpectedly. This arouses Richard's curiosity and follows the clues to track it down. Convinced that the beach does exist, he begins to persuade Franoise and his boyfriend to go with him to find the beach, and copies a map for other American friends to explore. After overcoming all kinds of difficulties, the Richard trio came to a suspected beach park, but only large tracts of marijuana fields and Thai farmers with guns appeared in front of them. as they fled for their lives, they finally entered the paradise of their dreams, where people were in Sal (Tilda Swinton).
