The Beautiful Country (2004)

Tell the story of a ship bound for New York, full of Asian refugees from China via Vietnam. Binh is one of them, and he goes to find his biological father (Nick Nolte). Binh, 25, half Vietnamese and half white; abnormally tall, jagged teeth and cleft lip; he was a baby when American troops withdrew from Vietnam. Because his Vietnamese mother sympathized with the enemy of the US military, as punishment, he was taken from her and thrown to his aunt. He has been treated as a second-class citizen since childhood, and no one in the village has ever cared about his miserable situation. He became self-abased and shy and did not want to change in the past. When he was driven out of the place where he was raised, he decided to leave here and hit the road to find his parents, his courage. The theme of this film is illegal immigration. Tim replaces Harvey Keitel as the captain of the stowaway boat Oh.
