In 1926, landscape painter Erna (Eddie Redmayne Eddie Redmayne) married Gerda (Alicia Vikander Alicia Vikander), who is good at figure painting in Copenhagen. Because the model stood up, Gerda persuaded Erna to put on women's clothes to save the scene in order to successfully complete the painting. The accident gave Erna a female personality "Lily", and the latter also became his wife's inspiration, making Gerda famous. However, with the awakening of the sleeping female personality, Erna began to hate his body as a man, and he gradually found that Lily is not only an artistic existence, but also a real self.
