The story takes place in London at the end of the 19th century, when the study of corpses has reached its extreme. Death is not the end of everything. People whose souls dissipate but remain forever are called "corpses" and are regarded as cheap and efficient labor. Watson (voiced by Hosoya Jiazheng) is a highly qualified medical student. His good friend Friday (voiced by Murase) died unexpectedly, following the wishes of his friend, who illegally made him into a corpse in violation of government regulations. Watson's move got him involved in an espionage agency called Walsingham, where, along with Friday, they set out on a trip to Afghanistan in search of Victor's Notes, owned by Dr. Frankenstein, who documented a way to create a conscious corpse called The One, and is most likely to have a hand reporter, a priest named Karamazov (voiced by Migi Shinichiro).
