The Endless Summer (1966)

This is a sports documentary about surfing. Two young men from California, Robert August and Mike Hynson, went on a trip around the world to find what they thought was the perfect wave. All the way to Hawaii, West Africa and Australia. Some real surfers were also involved in filming the film. The film is full of the flavor of the mid-1960s. People can not only see the costumes of the surfers at that time, but also learn about the housing and fuel problems in the third world. Although these are out of date three decades later, director Bruce Brown's unique narrative style makes the film still a masterpiece. With the deepening of the journey of the two young people, we enjoy the beauty of nature, and at the same time, the collisions and conflicts between different cultures are also unfolding. Maybe that's what the director really wants to convey.
