Catherine is the only daughter of the Hellstrom family, a Swedish immigrant. Because she is not satisfied with rural life, she decided to leave home to study medical nursing in the city, so as to become a nurse in the hospital after graduation. But things didn't work out, and she was tricked out of her tuition by Adolf, the painter, before she arrived at her destination. Helplessly, she had to apply for a maid in the big house advertised. There is a young congressman Glenn living in a big house. Morey, his mother, and Joseph the housekeeper? Clancy. The appearance of Catherine seemed to bring a touch of vitality to this slightly dull home. She is enthusiastic and studious, and her experience of living in the country makes her very capable. After meeting her, Glenn's mother, the old Mrs. Morey, decided to hire the young girl, though she might only work here for two months. In addition to being able to do housework, Catherine brewed coffee better than Joseph, and her cooking skills seemed to capture the appetite of the young congressman. And Glenn seemed to fall in love with this simple girl, and he would even go skating with her on the spur of the moment. Not only that, Catherine had a unique view of politics because she had personal experience in the country and she preferred a politician to do it to ordinary people.
