In 1973, Thanksgiving Day was approaching in Connecticut, USA, and an ice storm was coming. Ordinary and boring family life bores middle-aged couples. Husband Ben Hood (Kevin Klein) has been seducing neighbor Janet Harper, while wife (Joan Allen) has long been impatient with her husband's lies. Son Paul (Toby Maguire) is infatuated with the most popular girl in school. Daughter Wendy (Christina Ritchie) is interested in the Watergate hearing on TV. On the night of the ice storm, the couple went to a friend's house for a cocktail party. An important part of the cocktail party was the game of changing room keys. After the party, each wife can fall in love with another man. On the other hand, their son rushed to face a temptation and test, and the daughter was intoxicated in the sex game with the boy next door.
