Applegate (Ginger Rogers), who goes to New York to search for gold, is completely tired of the city after several short-term jobs. In her eyes, men are just a bunch of frivolous hikers. But when she bought a train ticket back to her hometown, she found that she could not afford a full ticket. In a hurry, she dressed herself as a little girl and bought half a ticket to get on the bus. In order to avoid the flight attendant's ticket check, Applegate hid the sleeper car and ran into Major Kobe (Ray Milland). The young major regarded her as a child and treated her in a gentle and naive way, but was misunderstood by his fiancee Pamela. Applegate had to stay with the major temporarily in the military academy to clarify the misunderstanding, during which the teenage cadets went forward one after another to the "girl" Apulgate and made a series of jokes. The major's affection with Applegate was also growing. The time for separation has come. How will the two treat this relationship? This film is the director's debut of screenwriter Billy Wilder.
