The story takes place during World War II, when Major Grau (Omar Sharif Omar Sharif), an intelligence officer, is ordered to investigate an extremely brutal murder. General von Sedritz (Charles Grey Charles Gray), Major General Karen Berg (Donald Prissens Donald Pleasence) and General Tanz (Peter Otto Peter O'Toole) are all suspects, but they all refuse to cooperate with the investigation. General von Sedritz's wife Natasha wants to find a rich son-in-law for their daughter Yu Lik (Joana Patty Joanna Pettet) among many promising young officers. She has a crush on General Tanz, but Yu Li doesn't like the demon who makes you frightened by the killing of poisonous snakes and beasts on the battlefield. In front of General Tanz, Yu Rick invited officer Raymond to dance, but the two fell in love. At the same time, Major Graw's intuition told him that Tanz was the evil murderer.
