The story takes place in the city of Tulsa in the 1960s, where students are divided into north and south gangs. The south gang is full of rich children born with golden spoons, while the north gang is full of unknown poor boys from the slums. The two groups have always been irreconcilable, and there are often fierce contradictions and conflicts, which is one of the great local destabilizing factors. Boniboy (C Thomas Howell C. Thomas Howell), Johnny (Ralph Marchio Ralph Macchio) and Dallas (Matt Dillon Matt Dillon) are members of the northern gang, and their friendship is very solid. In a fierce fight, Johnny misses and kills southern gang member Bob (Rafe Garrett Leif Garrett). With the help of Dallas, Boniboy and Johnny hide in a church, which has become a paradise for two boys to temporarily escape the cruel disputes of the outside world.
