Mrs. Paladin (Arida Valle Alida Valli) is accused of killing her husband, and she brings in a well-known lawyer named Anthony (Gregory Parker Gregory Peck) to defend herself. With the deepening of the relationship, Anthony finds that he has gradually fallen in love with the beautiful Mrs. Paladin, but Anthony has married a simple and kind wife Guy (Ann Todd Ann Todd). When he thinks of his wife's face, Anthony feels particularly guilty. However, the obsession with Mrs. Paladin triumphs over Anthony's guilt. By accident, Anthony finds that Andrew (Louis Jordan Louis Jourdan), the servant next to Mrs. Paladin, is the most suspected. Although there is no hard evidence that Andrew is the killer, framing Andrew is the best way to get Mrs. Paladin off the hook.
