The Phenix City Story (1955)
In this semi-documentary, a small town in Alabama is run by a criminal syndicate that gets fat through prostitution and distorted gambling, targeting soldiers opposite Fort Benning. After leaving the army, lawyer John Patterson was triggered by a plan he worked with the reformers to run his father, Albert, as state attorney general. The group responded with escalating violence: is no one safe? The acknowledgement was preceded by a "news broadcast" that included saboteurs.
