The Shannara Chronicles (2016 - 2017)
MTV booked the show for the entire season in December 2014, the most ambitious new project since MTV entered the field of scripted programming, based on a series of fantasy novels written by Terry Brooks, the Sword of Shanara. Al Gough and Miles Millar, creators of Smallville, will write the script for the show. Jonathan Liebesman, director of the movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, will direct the first two episodes, and the three will also serve as executive producers. Terry Brooks himself is also an executive producer. Jon Favreau was supposed to direct the first episode, but failed to do so because of the schedule conflict. He will retain his status as an executive producer. In the history of fantasy literature, the Sword of Shanara, published in 1977, is as famous as the Lord of the Rings, the Legend of the Earth Sea, the Dark Tower, the Dragon Gun and the Sword of Truth. There are a total of 25 books. The story takes place in the destruction of human civilization.
