The legendary experience of Sicilian Salvator Giuliano. Giuliano is an almost Robin Hood figure in modern history. He rules large tracts of Sicily. Since the 1940s, on the one hand, he tried to promote his hometown to get rid of the independence of the Italian government. On the other hand, he has to fight openly and secretly with the local mafia, churches and other forces. Because of the Godfather's unprecedented success in fiction and film, Mario Puzo released another underworld novel, Sicilian, in 1984, and the film adaptation rights sold for 1 million US dollars. David Bergman (David Begelman), the boss of Graden Entertainment (Gladden Entertainment), which won the adaptation rights, chose Michael Simino to direct the film. Simino complained to producer Bruce McNair (Bruce McNall) that his boss Bergman interfered too much in the script and actor selection. For example, Simino wants Christopher Lambert to play the leading actor Giuliano, while Bergman is considering a French actor. After McNeil conveyed Simino's opinion to Bergman, Simino got what he wanted.
