The Spirit of '45 (2013)

1945 was a crucial year in British history, and World War II was just over. In the British general election that year, the Labour Party issued a campaign platform of "Let's face the Future", claiming that it was a "socialist party" and unexpectedly defeated the long-ruling Conservative Party by an absolute majority and became the ruling party in British society. After the Labour Party came to power, it carried out a series of "socialist" reform policies with economic planning as the main body, in order to promote the recovery and reconstruction of the British economy. The film directed by Ken Lodge is precisely through a review of a series of important historical events to explore whether the "socialist" spirit of that period affected British social, political and economic life, and the inspiration that these spirits can give people at the present stage.
