Margaret (Betty Davis Bette Davis) used to be a popular Hollywood star, but now she has faded out of the audience's sight when she is middle-aged and old. Although Marguerite was reluctant to give up her acting career, the cold and cruel reality poured basin after basin of cold water on her head. The failure of her career made Marguerite gradually addicted to alcohol anesthesia. When she was drunk and driving, Margaret was arrested by the police and sent to prison. A man named Jimmy (Sterling Hayden Sterling Hayden) shows up and bails Marguerite, who once helped the then unknown Jimmy get a starring role in a movie, and Jimmy decided to repay her by helping her out of trouble.
