The Trial (2018)

Beyond "Crazy Border", there are crazy interrogations. The infamous trial during the Stalin period accused a group of leading economists and engineers of colluding with foreign forces in an attempt to restore capitalism and endanger national security. Rosny Safi, the director of the Iron Curtain (42nd), took great pains to pull out court images from historical archives, restore and comb them, and review the lies of an era to see how dictators used trials to consolidate totalitarianism and suppress dissidents. Self-directed Kafka nightmares, forcing people to confess non-existent charges. The film also learns from the past and knows the present, and if it fails to recognize the horrors of totalitarianism, it will start all over again.
