Film director Emilio Estevez is the eldest son of the film's lead actor Martin Sheen, and this is the seventh time that the father and son have worked together in the film and television series. American doctor Tom (Martin Sin Martin Sheen) leaves for France to retrieve his son's body and belongings after his son Daniel (Emilio Estewitz Emilio Estevez) is killed in France. Daniel died in the Pyrenees. On his way to Santiago de Compostela Cathedral, he was caught in a storm and died peacefully. This road to the church is also known as the "Way of St. James". At first, Tom's purpose was to retrieve Daniel's body, but after arriving in France, Tom decided to walk all over again what Daniel had walked and left unfinished. In order to better understand his son's life and understand his child better. In the process of returning to St. James, Tom met three hikers who came here from different countries, all looking for a more vital meaning and hoping to return on foot.
