The film is based on a novel "Life and death in Los Angeles" by Gerald Petwicz, a former American intelligence officer. In the plot, Los Angeles Detective William Peterson vows to do whatever it takes to avenge the tragic death of his partner, and later finds out that the killer is the counterfeit banknote painter William Davy, who launched a violent cat-and-mouse chase with him.
