Toto (Thomas Godet) from a civilian family was born on the same day in the same hospital as Alfred (Hugo Harold Harrison) from a wealthy family next door. Toto believes that because of a fire in the hospital, the two babies were held by their parents by mistake. The good life that should have belonged to him was taken away by Alfred, and of course, he was punched by Alfred whenever he mentioned it. With his father's unexpected death, Toto's resentment of the Alfred family grew. Hatred did not satisfy and compensate him, but cast a shadow over his life forever. The film won Best Foreign language Film Award at the 1991 Cannes Film Festival, Best Foreign language Film Award at the Caesar Award in France in 1992, Best Actor (Michel Bouquet) at the European Film Festival in 1991, Best Photography, Best Screenplay and Youth Film Award, Best Picture and Best Screenplay at the 1992 Portuguese Fantasy International Film Festival.
