In the 39th year of Meiji, the Russo-Japanese War has just come to an end. For the sake of national defense, the Ministry of War makes a careful survey of the mountains in Japan. Among the mountains, Yue Zhong Jian Yue is known as the invincible mountain of death, where countless surveyors and mountaineering enthusiasts return, and many people lose their lives. Taking into account the importance of Jianyue measurement, the Army Provincial Party Committee sent the Survey Department expert Fangtaro Saizaki (Tadashi Asano) to take on this important task. Shibataki carefully reads a great deal of information about Jianyue, and then visits the experienced guide Yuji Changjiro (Kagawa Miyuki), together with his assistant Shinobu Shinada (Hideki Matsuda), on his way to a mountain that has never been touched by mankind. At the same time, the Japanese Mountain Society, a non-governmental organization, also regarded Jianyue as the goal of conquest, thus launching a war of honor. The film is based on Jiro Xinda's mountain novel and won Best Photography, Best Director, Best score, Best Lighting, Best Sound effect and Best supporting Actor at the 2010 Japan Film Academy Awards, Best Picture and Best New Artist of Blue Ribbon in 2010, Best Director of the 2010 Film Deadend, and Best Photography and Best Sound of the Daily Film 2010. ©Douban
