The story is set in the future. Willis runs an entertainment venue, Fantasy World, with a group of robots that act as victims of human emotions and cruel crimes that cannot be carried out in real life. The robot restarts nightly to erase the memory of the first 24 hours, but the restart process doesn't work for a robot (Amber Childers), which has memory and self-awareness and escapes from a fantasy world that looks like hell to it. It launched an attack on Willis, along with Thomas Jane's cop who wants to take down the fantasy world, and the robot designer played by Jonathan Scatcher.
