Viritiana (Silvia Pinal), who has practiced in the nuns for many years, is about to swear to return. Mammy suggested that she visit her patron uncle Haimai before the ceremony. Viritiana went to her uncle's mansion in the country. Unexpectedly, Haimai was emotional because she resembled her wife. Veritiana was about to return to the nuns after a short stay. On the eve of her departure, Haimai begged her to put on her wife's wedding dress and propose to her. After being refused, she was drugged by a maid. The next day, Haimai committed suicide, Vivitiana returned to the mansion and decided to stay. Haimai's illegitimate son Jose (Francisco Rabal) also came to the mansion with his girlfriend and immediately hired someone to reorganize the barren field. at the same time, Viritiana invited some homeless people to share the mansion with sick beggars. Viritiana took care of their lives, led them to pray devoutly, and tried to provide them with God's help. Jose's girlfriend was so frustrated that she broke up and took advantage of Viritiana and Jose to enter the city, begging and homeless people to enter the house and make the house a mess. This film is the second part of Bunuel's religious trilogy and won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1961.
