"Visions" The Cabinet of Jan Svankmajer (1984)

The film begins with a portrait of Yang Shi Yunmeyer. Swinmeyer's head is an open book, coupled with a patchwork of body limbs, a grotesque, ugly but extraordinarily sophisticated metal villain was born. He tells a mindless doll about hallucinations and perspective in a closed and repressed library. Dark and dreary cabinets squeeze everything in the limited space, distorting in fast montage close-ups. The work is a series of nine animations, with excerpts from Shi Yunmeyer's works and comments from a number of critics, art historians and surrealists. This highly existential animated short film created by the Kui brothers is a tribute to Czech film and animation master Yang Shi Yunmeyer. No matter from the material texture, or the details of the atmosphere, all incisively and vividly highlight the highly recognizable "Kui's" maverick. The little dolls, which run through many works of the Kui brothers, once again build a fantasy world that is close to talking in a dream and seems to be completely crazy. The classic passages in Yang Shi Yunmeyer's works are interspersed with strange and grotesque narrative structures and infinitely exaggerated local details, oppressing your nerves.
