Musicologist Howard went to San Francisco with his fiancee Eunice to get a $20, 000 scholarship from the Larrabee Foundation. The checked suitcase carried by Howard contains collected rock specimens from the City of Fire, which is an important evidence of the origin of music. They are staying at the Bristol Hotel. At the same time, the three guests staying at the hotel happened to be carrying exactly the same suitcase as Howard, and more coincidentally, they lived on the same floor as Howard. Fritz, the receptionist, was unkind to the valuable jewelry in Mrs. Hoskins's suitcase and colluded with private investigator Harry to prepare for the attack. Mr. Smith's suitcase contained secret government documents, which Jones, the spy, took great pains to get his hands on. The third is Howard's suitor, Meade, who tracked her loved ones here, and her suitcase was filled with all kinds of underwear. The story revolves around these four suitcases. In order to achieve their goals, all kinds of people who come here with a variety of purposes have constantly caused trouble in the hotel and staged a farce.
