The story takes place in California, USA. Ray (Nick Nott Nick Nolte) has just walked off the battlefield and returned to his long-lost home, ready to welcome the precious quiet life. On the battlefield, he met a young soldier named John (Michael Moriarty Michael Moriarty). In a hail of bullets, the two friends formed a deep friendship between life and death. Life after leaving the army was not as good as Lei imagined, and soon the current situation of being shy put him in dire straits. Just then, John came to him and said that there was a big deal that would make them a lot of money, and Ray began to work with John in heroin smuggling. Unexpectedly, an accident got Ray and John killed. John chose to walk away, leaving his wife Maggie (Tasdie Weld Tuesday Weld) and Ray to face the ferocious assailant.
